On Monday night, a sharp critique of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu premiered in front of a packed house in Toronto, making it one of the most explosive documentaries in TIFF history, despite Netanyahu's final efforts to stop it.
The Bibi Files, produced by Alex Gibney and directed by Alexis Bloom, includes an unpublished video of Netanyahu being interrogated by Israeli police on corruption charges, which led to Netanyahu's prosecution in 2019.
In a video leaked to Gibney at the end of last year, it can be seen that Netanyahu had a dispute with interrogators, denying that he had improperly accepted expensive gifts from wealthy supporters including Hollywood producer Anon Milkan and Las Vegas casino tycoon Sheldon Adelson. The video of police questioning Milkan, Adelson, and Netanyahu's wife Sarah and eldest son Yair has also been leaked to Gibney and occupies an important position in the documentary.
